Gaviscon Peppermint (16 Tablets) is an over-the-counter, peppermint-flavored, chewable tablet designed to provide fast, soothing, and long-lasting relief from heartburn, acid reflux, and indigestion. It works by forming a protective "raft" or barrier on top of the stomach contents, which prevents stomach acid from rising into the esophagus. 

• Active Ingredients: Each tablet contains 250 mg Sodium Alginate, 133.5 mg Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate, and 80 mg Calcium Carbonate.
• Mechanism of Action:
  • Raft Formation: Sodium alginate forms a thick layer (raft) on top of the stomach contents, blocking reflux for up to 4 hours.
  • Antacid Action: Calcium carbonate and sodium hydrogen carbonate neutralize excess stomach acid.
• Flavor: Refreshing Peppermint.
• Format: 16 chewable tablets in a portable blister pack ("Handy Pack").
• Safety: Can be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. 

• Relief of heartburn and indigestion, such as after meals or during pregnancy.
• Treatment of symptoms related to gastro-oesophageal reflux, including burning sensation in the chest and acid regurgitation. 

• Adults, elderly, and children over 12 years: Chew 2–4 tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to 4 times a day.
• Usage: Chew thoroughly before swallowing.
• Important: Do not swallow them whole.
• Children under 12 years: Should only be taken on medical advice. 

• Sodium and Calcium Content: This product is high in sodium and calcium. Consult a doctor if you are on a strict low-salt diet or have kidney issues.
• Duration: If symptoms persist after 7 days, consult a doctor.
• Other Medications: Take 2 hours apart from other medications, as it may affect their efficacy.
• Side Effects: Rarely, allergic reactions can occur. Very high doses may cause constipation or, due to mannitol content, a mild laxative effect.
• Phenylketonuria: Contains aspartame, which is a source of phenylalanine.
